About Renata - the Artist - in her own words
My Early Story and Three Main Passions
I am originally from Poland where I have received my Master's Degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Warsaw. My main interest during my studies was mythology, as well as hidden beliefs behind human thinking, which helps to discover how such myths and a variety of customs were created. These were all very interesting and till this day, I love mythology and incorporating it into my art. I find it really fascinating recreating mythological characters and a fantasy world. My big interest since a very young age was also spirituality and personal development. This is something I still find very important and worth discovering.
My third love is nature and it's mysteries and beauty. I always liked to be close to it and to stay deeply connected to the natural world. I feel that besides the visible world, there are hidden energies at work, which we should try to discover, respect and work with.
The reflections of my interests are clearly visible in the art I create. In many of my artworks you will see many mythological and spiritual beings such as goddesses, angels and fairies. They are often found surrounded by nature; for example a forest, stream, mountains, a variety of plants and animals and other elements of natural world. At other times I go beyond the Earth and show people surrounded by stars and other views from space (here I often use real pictures provided by NASA and sometimes combine several different views and enhance them in computer to create unique backgrounds).
How it happened that I become a photographer and artist?
Soon after arriving to Toronto, Canada more than 20 years ago, I become very interested in photography and art. When I think about it, art was always my interest since I was a child, so this was something I was naturally interested in. To lean more about photography, I took several courses, including many advanced courses at than Ontario College of Art (OCA, now called OCAD) in Toronto, Canada.
I later discovered that besides photographing nature, I loved photographing people,
particularly creating fine art portraits and nudes. At this time I have also learned to print my own photographs in colour and black and white. I still have some of these early prints today (available as fine art prints). Also at this time I started presenting and selling my work in galleries as well as for a variety of publications, including book covers, magazines, greeting cards, postcards and advertising. I have also submitted my work to a variety of competitions and was able to win many awards, including a few first places (particularly in fine art and glamour photography).
I continued learning by myself and as well as taking many more courses and my new passion was creating fantasy art. First I was doing it in the darkroom and then on the computer, after I was able to learn a few computer programs, which allowed me to enhance and combine photographs as well as to add other elements like textures and other creative effects.
Interviews with me
Some people got interested in my work and conducted interviews with me, which appeared in photography and art related magazines including "Camera Arts", "Canadian Camera", "3 D magazine", "Pozytyw" and "Pix Art". I was also featured on the "Behind the Lens" TV program. When being featured in this movie, finding myself on the other side of the camera was something new to me and pretty emotional event since I am rather shy and prefer to be taking pictures. Nevertheless I think it has turned out pretty good and I was happy to show how I work in the studio photographing people for my fantasy art.
See my Artwork and How I Can Serve You
For me photography and creating art is not only my work, but also one of my greatest passions. Please see it for yourself. I invite you to browse my galleries to see if you like what I do. There are so many photographers and other artists there that it might be hard for you to choose the right one. But I believe that if someone chooses the artist with whom he/she feels connected and could better communicate with, it is easier to work with and the highest quality art could be created. If you think you would enjoy meeting me and being photographed by me, or having Soul Dream Portrait created for yourself, or somebody else you love, from the pictures you already have, please contact me. Here again is more information about Soul Dream Portraits.
If you like my art, you might also consider purchasing it in the form of fine art archival prints to decorate your home or office. The prices are really affordable and all prints are printed on high quality archival papers. My artworks are also available for licensing for various usage. Perhaps you can use them in your publications and advertising.
